lsbhome what are our feeling of putting same color on ceiling as used on walls? Wall & ceiling will be separated by crown molding which will probably be a white of sorts.
How tall are the ceilings in this room? - I have a very small upstairs bathroom with standard 8' walls. Can I do this wainscot and two tone look in such a small space to make the ceiling seam taller? I'm afraid the dark brown will make the room feel small. I know white is not the answer but really need to make this space feel better. »
Carolyn Albert-Kincl Design I think you're talking about a bit framed mirror. That might work, but what I meant was the kind that the mirror company comes and installs that goes from wall to wall and from wainscoting to the ceiling.
Sandra Alger, CID, Fresh Ideas by Sandy I agree with above, use one color on the walls and ceilings...there will be no seam and the room will feel larger. Maybe a large curvy mirror ( beveled and frameless, Audrey mirror @ ballards) may work to give the room a little pop? Your bathroom is adorable...Have fun...
teniellec I think it is Sherwin Williams Dovetail. I love this bathroom and just tried the sample on the wall. It looks more gray on the swatch, but in person has this greige color, like these walls.
@designREMODEL Baths, Kitchens & More It usually goes right to the floor and then the baseboard is applied to the face of the bead board. Be sure to locate the wall studs when nailing the baseboard to keep it tight to the wall.
gin1ek My neighbor was trying to do contrasting colors on the corner wall separating kitchen bar and family room - the wall was textured and he could not get a straight line. Clever guy ran a line of silicone down the corner wall. It gave him a straight line and the silicone peeled off easily.
Avenue B Development You can find vintage-style pedestals just like that one at www.vintagetub.com. They are one of my favorite online retailers - have bought stuff for almost all of my projects from them and have never had an issue.
Don't count out your smaller rooms. Even in a powder room, you can proudly display art in an artful way. This vertical line of identically framed works on the gray wall stands out — and draws your eye away from the toilet, which is always a good thing!
An example of beadboard modernized in the bathroom. The wainscotting was kept a traditional white, but above it the walls are painted a contemporary cool gray with a light blue band of paint continued from the wall to the ceiling to finish the space.
2. The strip of foggy blue at the top of this bathroom takes the standard gray and white palette to a new level. The beadboard and trim adds even more detail to the space, and Houzz users loved the use of the basic pedestal sink.
