Window in bathtub/shower area. I've been told that is not a good idea, although, I like the light. - Redoing 1950's small (about 5 x 8)bath and removing the tub. There is a window on the 5' wall. Isn't this a problem with a shower and moisture? »
John Lum Architecture, Inc. AIA It really depends on your usage. As you can see in this bath, the window is at the tub, not near the shower in the foreground. If there isn't going to be direct spray, it is usually fine and easy to maintain. I wouldn't do this if the tub and shower were one unit.
John Lum Architecture, Inc. AIA Yes there is a blind there - the white bar across the top of the window. Another option would be to have obscure glass which would still let in light, but not provide visual access.
I would also like to know the source of this bathtub and the dimensions. - Hello! I've been searching for a small tub just like this. What is the source and the dimensions? Thanks! »
bluesy63 I recently inherited my father's home when he passed away. The home is quite old. I think built in the 20-30's. My Father put in a "make shift" bathroom/shower, and the shower was intended for a mobile home (think CAMPER!) SO I have been searching for a BATHtub/shower alternative, but it has to be quite smal. This appears to be about right, judging by the # of tiles...This looks like it would work! :)
Can this style bathroom be used upstairs on the second story? - I am building a home and in the process of finalizing the designs, I was wanting to use this for the upstairs as a kids bathroom. I have been researching and I have read from many people that this style bathroom should be on a slab foundation, I am concerned this will not work upstairs? »
Jeff Chmielewski I actually think this is very cool, and I can't think of any reason why this couldn't be on a second floor as long as you have adequate drainage.
7. Consider an open shower. You want a separate shower and tub but you only have a narrow, tight space. Consider an "open shower" that places the tub after the shower, as shown here.
