The front 2" rock faced bluestone treads with New England field stone risers were installed from templates produced by the masonry subcontractor. The monogram inset within the lower landing was made from absolute black granite. The large 2" bluestone slab which contain the monogram was manufactured by the local masonry along with the local countertop manufacturer.
The project was completed in 2007, which I no longer have the records of contacts. I do not recall the "lighter color" granite highlighting the monogram along with the diamond inserts. However, I believe the stone was "engraved" with a water-jet at the countertop manufacture. This countertop supplier had the equipment to cut into the bluestone and install the two different types of granite.
My recommendations would be to print the photograph and discuss with your builder, masonry subcontractor, and the countertop supplier, to determine their alternatives and direction of cost as related to your project.
david phillips The project was completed late in 2007, which my records no longer exist for the product selections. My best suggestion is to select and print the best photo, then bring it to a local / retailer, who should be able to help you find a similar color.
The wood entry door, sidelights and related frame is made of mahogany.
david phillips the roof is a red shingle roof, untreated with any stain or preservative. the shingles are installed 5" "to the weather" allow for a goof overlap of the a8" shingle. the shingles have been installed with an ice/water membrane at all the eaves and valleys, along with interwoven #15 pound felt paper along each course. copper open valleys complete the roof.
I like the solid look of this door. Do not like that side light comes all the way down to bottom. Prefer that side light only goes part way down and not with clear glass.
