I love the glass blocks and was wondering if silhouettes were visible from inside? - Hello, we were thinking about the glass blocks in the bathroom to bring light in with privacy and was wondering about silhouettes especially at night. Any thoughts will be appreciated.
thank you »
John Lum Architecture, Inc. AIA There are many types of glass block out there, and yes, many of them will provide a silhouette however they tend to distort which can be a plus in this type of situation. Try going to a supplier and choose several of them to see how they affect light at night.
How should you finish the area around the block window when it is not flush with the wall? - We're tiling the shower area and have about an inch depth to the window. How do we finish it? »
John Lum Architecture, Inc. AIA There are quite a few options, depending on your window details, and the trim throughout the bathroom. You could wrap the return in the same tile as the wall - similar to the bathroom in this image.
This bathroom is safely tucked into one of my own inspiration ideabooks for favorite bathrooms. A huge area of glass block lets in abundant light while preserving privacy. Flat metal bars running from backsplash to ceiling hold the mirrors in place.
