this room must be kitty cat heaven! so there are three sets of doors that exit on to the terrace? are there doors out from the kitchen too? are you going to build a cat walkway along the upper tier of windows? :)
is the fireplace gas or wood? if wood, where do you store it? »
Beth Dotolo, RID, ASID Thank you for your questions!
Yes. Yes. No. And, gas. :)

Anne DeCocco How about a textured wall paper? Or look at Modular Arts (.com) for some great ideas. I'll bet there are thin brick veneers in the big box hardware stores, too.
Beth Dotolo, RID, ASID Thank you for your question!
I would suggest a brick veneer.

Color is in essence, reflections of light and one’s surroundings. As a result, the color you see in our clients space would certainly translate differently into your own. Unfortunately, we do not share project-related details of this sort both for your benefit and the benefit of our clients. Our clients have invested in the uniqueness of their space and have entrusted us with the privilege of celebrating the finished product photographically without compromising their confidentiality by disclosing specific details.
If you are not working with a designer, play with paint samples on various walls in your space to see if you get the effect you want. The fireplace divides the living room and playroom, giving parents and kids a bit of breathing room while providing open access to both spaces.
A ceramic pup stands guard on the hearth — a sweet compromise for a little one who desires a dog ... and a relief to the cat resting on the ottoman.
4. Divide a large space into "rooms." Focus on the sofa in the middle of the picture. This one acts as a "wall," helping create distinct rooms within this one very long space. By placing the sofa perpendicular to the long walls in the rooms also helps visually widen the room while minimizing its length, making it seems less like a bowling alley.
Don't think we'd do this type of fireplace in the main room, but it looks really cool, allows for seating around the fireplace and a TV would look great above it.

Unfortunately that was in the architect's scope of work and we don't have that information on hand. Best of luck on your project!
