Hugh Jefferson Randolph Architects The custom designed gutters were made by a metal fabricator in Austin. They are fairly straightforward box gutters made of paint grip galvanized metal.
paint color - can you share the exterior paint color? was this the same color that you used for the gutters? or did you use a slightly darker color for the gutters? thanks »
TrockWorks Architectural Services I also love the paint grip galvanized metal. Do you use it as you would something like cement fiber board or other siding, or does it need special attachments? Also, is it a lot more expensive than typical cement fiber siding?
Hugh Jefferson Randolph Architects It's more expensive than cement fiber board but I'm not sure how much more in terms of square foot cost. It doesn't need to be painted and weathers beautifully.
The front entry is mid-grade between the level of the garage and the level of the master bedroom.
The brick details, the ipe under the overhangs, and even the sconce add ornament and texture.
Add a little detail. It doesn't take much to go from boring, bland and severe to interesting and relaxed. It could be as simple as the addition of a horizontal shadow line every few courses.
Interesting combination of materials. Especially like the dark wood soffit and contrasting siding. Not so crazy about the light brick (although it works here). Maybe ledgestone?
