The first time I drove through central Virginia, I noticed all of these amazing rolls of hay dotting the hills. Up to this point, I'd only seen rectangular bales of hay, and I was entranced. Something about the placement of these spheres in the landscape reminds me of the feeling I had the first time I saw those hay rolls.
Utilize framing. When composing photographs, make sure you use the frames already inherent in your design. In this photograph, the posts perfectly frame the circular sculptures in the lawn. A few steps to the left or right and that framing would evaporate. It allows the photographer to highlight the design of the space, the views it creates and the sculpture itself.
I'm liking the idea of small, irregular poured slabs on a walkway, with tiny stones pressed in, when wet...then short ground cover plantings between them...something like thyme, that would smell good when stepped on.
I love the L shape of the cover, which allows you to pick a sunny or shady spot on the patio, and lets the organically shaped patio creep around into a shape that doesn't line up with the cover. Also allows for use of a shade-tolerant moss ground cover that looks so pretty under the patio cover.
