What is the size of island and is there room for seating on opposite side? - We're renovating our kitchen and putting in 3'2"x7' island including 12" overhand for eating on one short and one long side. I want a large enough uninterrupted area for preparation/baking (ie. rolling pastry) but also so eating area won't be crowded by the sink placement. WE're not sure best size/placement of sink. »
Mixing woods can allow one element of the kitchen to stand out. The dark wood finish of the island grabs the visitors attention while the perimeter cabinets disappear with the walls. The activity in the kitchen will naturally gravitate towards the island.
4. Tubular Bar PullsA traditional-style kitchen with Shaker cabinets gets a modern touch with nickel or stainless steel tubular bar pulls. This type of hardware is often seen on slab or flat-panel doors, but it works equally well on a Shaker-style door. Tubular bar pulls can be long and dramatic or short and classic.
