.
This indoor, half court, was built with 2X6 wall studs, filled with F.G. insulation, and 1/2" MDO plywood glued and screwed the all the wall studs. The interior finish is 1/2" AZEK panels, beveled edge at 1/4" and space 1/4" apart from the adjoining panel. The AZEK was primed, then painted with two coats of spayed latex paint.

The AZEK was applied to the smooth side of the MDO plywood with marine glue and s/s small head nails. The ceiling also with FG insulation and MDO plywood is finished with a 1X8 tongue and groove board with a white wash finish, prior the two coats of urethane. The use of full coverage for the MDO plywood, reduced the issue of nailing panels or the ceiling boards to the wall studs, and provides a strong backer for the AZEK panels.

The use of the AZEK panels, cut in full and half sheets, and applied to the interior wall in a pattern, offers an excellent interior wall surface. It does not show basketball, soccer ball, or hockey puck dents, allowing the room to be a multipurpose area for both the kids and adults.

The basket ball hoop, backboard, pipe framing, and wall mounted mats were all supplied by PORTER EQUIPMENT / PORTER ATHLETICS. You should do some homework on the web to find your local dealer. The installation of the main basketball backboard along with the small adjustable backboard, for the kids, require proper interior wall blocking to support each backboard. The main basketball hoop is NBA rated, and installed to NBA regulations for height along with a breakaway hoop.

If you review this photograph, additional space was designed behind the main backboard to allow for "lay-ups", and movement behind the basketball rim. All glazing in all the photographs pictured was installed with hurricane glass, to provide addition protection from breakage. The second floor overlook is shown on another photograph, posted on my site, which is also tempered glazing and offers a view of the activities.

The rep from PORTER EQUIPMENT provides the specifications and information required for this interior wall blocking. All information and specifications should be reviewed to conform the the manufacturer's requirements. They send out drawings and can come out to your site to review the "rough" installation work to assist them in the installation of their equipment. The rep should be able answer your concerns for sound and structure to meet you requirements.

The product are installed during the finish. Brackets and wall mounted support are predrilled through the AZEK and MDO to attach to the blocking within the wall. The project must be "ready" when they come to install their equipment.
