kissyface Was there a special technique for doing it on pine. When I research liming wax they say you need the grain of oak etc and do not recommend pine. Was your wood rough.
Sandy Koepke the cupboard is original....the best one i've ever had! sorry i don't remember what i used on the base cabinets. it would surely have been from either benjamin moore (in the HC/hisorical color group) or farrow & ball. but it's always best to test colors in your own environment. start with chips, then buy a few quarts to test...and look at them in both natural daylight and at night. light really affects colors. have fun!
Island - Can you please let me know where I can find an 'island' like the one in the pic. I am talking about the wood top with red metal legs...i like the look and feel of that! thx, »
Sandy Koepke it's an industrial work cart on casters. are there any salvage warehouses or restaurant supply sources where you live? it's very heavy...so finding something like it online would give you more options, but shipping would be expensive. good luck!
The rustic furnishings (tall cabinet, stool and table) along with the vintage accessories (Morton's Salt sign, clock and jars) in this kitchen give it a farmhouse feel, but if the sink and counter on the right-hand side of the photo were omitted, this might look like any other industrial-chic room.
This vintage cart adds character, patina and personality to this kitchen. This designer has done a great job of using just the right number of vintage objects, such as the enamel Morton's Salt sign, vintage clock, counter stool and cart. These items add the right balance of well-worn character into the light kitchen, without stepping into vintage overload.
Hello, dream kitchen. There are so many interesting vintage pieces in this space — the vintage sign, the old clock, the vintage stool and rolling cart (used as an island), and even the container holding mail on the wall. And it all works so well with the modern faucet and countertops. This kitchen looks like it functions well for today's cook, but it also oozes charm.
4. Vintage accents. Period touches ground the farmhouse look in its old-fashioned roots. Consider pitchers, pottery, lighting and other accessories as nostalgic top notes.
Love all the finishes in this pic--white antiqued boards on wall, the look of the cabinet, the reddish legs and wood top to the island/table on the left
