Smith & Vansant Architects PC We had them custom made for this project out of butternut. The trim is 4 1/2" wide side casings and the head casing is 5 1/2".
These cabinet doors are a custom design built by a local craftsman. The moulding is extra deep in order to provide satisfying shadow lines. The material is butternut and there is a milk paint applied to give them the antique look.
Smith & Vansant Architects PC These sconces are from Visual Comfort and were supplied by our interior Design Consultants at Dpf Design in White River Junction Vermont.
The finish on these doors is ideal for some cabinetry my daughter is hoping to use for an entertainment center. Does this finish have an official name or description? »
Smith & Vansant Architects PC These butternut closet doors have a custom decorative paint finish. I believe it is a light milk paint finish which allows the natural beauty of the butternut to read through.
Try a decorative paint finish. Paint is not expensive, so have a ball! Tip: You don't need to remove doors from hinges to paint them. It is quicker to paint them while attached, and the result can be just as great. Regardless of what color/finish you do, paint in the direction of the grain.
If it’s in your budget, consider replacing the doors altogether with something unexpected and unique. These beautiful custom-made doors feature butternut wood with an applied milk paint finish that gives them a warm, antique look.
Get a custom look. This is another design by Smith & Vansant. In this master bedroom, custom butternut doors make the closet a feature. The architects decided not to bring the doors down to the floor, instead running paneling beneath them to make this area feel more like a built-in than a closet."We could have used a row of closet doors on this wall," says Pi Smith, "but the butternut brings so much more character to the room. Even though these are new doors, they have an antique feel that's beautiful with the tinted plaster walls."
Interesting built-in closet. The butternut doors don't go to the floor. A large drawer underneath would make use of the space. I like the white framing, the double sets of doors, and the handles.
Dont disregard using (3) Older doors or distressing new ones if we have trim carpenter build out these "lockers". I almost prefer this vs more cabinets.
