Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer HI magjagmin: you won’t believe this, but we found these 3 good-looking little pendant lights at LOWE’s, for the amazing price of $39 each. Our only issue was the original canopies (the part at the top that attaches to the ceiling), which were too rounded, so we ended up buying an additional 3 pendants with more square-edged canopies, and we had our electrician switch them out. (This left us, after all was said and done, with 3 complete alternate pendants; I think my client was able to find someone in her family who could use them.)
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer Hi kcunner- sorry for the delay in answering your question. If you're asking about the wall colors, we custom mixed them onsite, using Benjamin Moore colors, to get the the right shades. For the cabinets, the light colored cabinets are a gray/khaki paint with glaze from Greenfield Cabinetry, and the dark colored cabinets are a slate stain on maple from Columbia Cabinets. Both companies have proprietary finishes. Good luck with your project-
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer I'm sorry, per my earlier post, I don't know the brand. It was made in China, and the cost was about $2/SF--compared to $5 to $7 for most similar products. (The tile store said that it brought in a limited amount to sell at a low price, and that it would no longer be available once it was gone.) Just fyi, though, I've found that since porcelain "wood" tile has become popular, we're finding it all over the place in different colors, shapes, and prices.
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer Sorry it's taken me so long to answer your question about the amazing backsplash in this kitchen. My client designed and built this mosaic herself out of 1 x 1 glass tile in 3 colors, loosely following the metric of a classic Escher design. For the triangle shaped pieces, she had to learn how to first score and then use a nippers to break the tile in perfect 45 degree triangles. Although she used the same mesh as that used for commercially produced mosaics for the backing, at installation our tile guy ended up removing and setting each tile individually in order to get a perfect glass tile grid. I think both my client and my tile guy deserve "special effort" awards!
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer Thank you for your question on this charming kitchen, and please accept my apologies for the delay in answering it. The bar stools were purchased from West End about a year ago, and I believe they still carry something similar.
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer I'm sorry, I don't know! My client sourced this product directly. I have to say, she did a great job finding a good-looking tile at a reasonable price point.....
Design Moe Kitchen & Bath / Heather Moe designer Sorry for the delay in answering your question in regard to the floors in this Escondido Home. The material is a 5 x 32 porcelain tile, and in this case we actually used a knock-off product that was very reasonably priced. In order to have a successful installation that keeps the look of a wood floor, we have learned to keep the grout joints tight and to always pick a darker grout (so that it looks like reveals between planks, rather than grout joints in tile). As a flooring option for the kitchen, a porcelain tile is generally a better choice than wood planking, which is beautiful but subject to scratches and water spotting. About the only disadvantage is the hardness of the floor, which can be a problem for older clients or those with back problems.
Want this styel for over the sink. Need to decide what type of columns will look best with the kitchen. This is also how I want the bar to look. The bar counter will wrap around and be the counter top of the end floor cabinet, The end floor cabinet will be like Stan's design. I like this lighting as well with the can lights over the sink area, and pendants over the bar. I will also have pendants over the island. Need to decide how that will look to have pendants in both places.
