garden - Hi there - sending you this message from London. Could you tell me what the frame is made of? Is this an iron pergola? Look forward to hearing from you. Jeannie x »
Sandy Koepke hi there in london! yes, the pergola structure is iron, as is the mesh screen along the back 'wall' of the dining area. it's more grown in since this photo was taken...so it has a softer look. the iron structure can handle plenty of weight. sandy
Sandy loves to hang things from above in trees or from pergolas. It also adds to that sense of enclosure, while at the same time providing a touch of whimsy and an engagement with nature.
If you wish for a place to suspend planters, string lights or chandeliers, there are few better places than under an arbor. Something like this could make an interesting wall on a deck if you don't have a large enough structure to use overhead.
