Advice on making/buying outdoor cushions please - I'm scheming an outdoor Moroccan inspired lounge area, and so loads of cushions and pillows like you see here will be a necessity. I want to make as much of this as I can myself to save money (and make it more original). When it comes to making cushions and pillows for outdoors, what kind of material and stuffing should I be looking for? We live in Oregon so in the winter this will all have to come inside, but even in the summer we get rain and I don't want to have to freak out at every sprinkle. It won't get much direct sun so bleaching is less of a concern than water resilience. Thanks! »
Sandy Koepke the fabric does not keep water out. special outdoor foam that wicks water through is best. it costs about twice as much but worth it. i wrap the foam with fiberfill.
7. Opt for outdoor fabrics. When Koepke started working on outdoor spaces, the fabric choices were slim. Today, we're lucky enough to have a slew of options to choose from, like sheers and woven textiles, bright colors and more subtle tones. Whatever you choose to use on your patio furniture, make sure it's solution-dyed acrylic, insists Sandy. That way it will be able to stand up to to whatever weather comes its way.

built in bench provides seating with cushions and pillows
can also serve as a raised plant shelf. If it is built of wood, even if faced with stone; the raised lid provides storage....pillows, lanterns, plant storage in freesing temps! VERY versatile
