Very interesting ceiling. What is the material? - I can see the reflection of the wall paper design in it. What gives it the shine and reflectiveness? »
I have always hated the black bathroom tiles I inherited, but now I'm inspired to paint white cherry blossom on the pale blue walls.
Does any one know if you can also paint slate floor tiles? They are a greyish green & just revolting, but we're not in the position to get rid of them at the moment. »
Sheila Schmitz Yes, you should be able to paint your slate tiles. Be sure to use a paint designed for tile, and follow all the instructions for prepping the surface, applying thin coats, curing and sealing. Please come back and show us what you do!
bepsf I suspect the reason you hate your green slate floor and black tiles is because the blue walls aren't doing anything but making those tiles look bad...

Personally, I'd pick up the color cues from the existing tile and stone within the space for your wall color & accessories. Pulling the grey/khaki/olive from the slate and repeating it in the paintwork, towels and bringing in some natural wood & black iron accessories & fixtures could go a long way to coordinating the appearance of your existing space and help you enjoy the bathroom you already own.
Even when you think you’ve got it all with graphic wallpaper, black trim and marble flooring, you can still up the ante of your bathroom with an incredible ceiling. This one features painted embossed tin, and the effect couldn’t be more tantalizing.
The guest bathroom, with wallpaper that steals the show, is one of Gordon's favorite spaces in the home. The combination of traditional and modern detailing reflects the same look of the guest bedroom. Wallpaper: Flowering Quince, Kneedler Fauchere; bathtub: Celine, American Bath Factory
Reach for the red. For a guest bedroom and bath, Elizabeth Gordon of Elizabeth Gordon Studio used punches of red against earth tones to emphasize the Asian details of some of the rooms' accessories."The guest bath is one of my favorite spaces," she says, "and was designed around the concept of the British colonial empire in Hong Kong — with a dash of Hollywood glam. I think the wallpaper on the ceiling really makes the room." More:Wallpaper Ideas for Bedrooms
