For a warm, vintage look, choose an antique bench with ornately designed wooden legs topped with soft cushioning. Pieces like these are timeless and will always have a place in your design scheme.

The tailored look of a French headboard is so classic. Putting a bench at the end helps distribute the weight, but you don't walk into the room and think "bed." Plus, in a master or guest room, it's nice to have a place to set things. In certain cases a small, short settee at the end of a large king bed works well too. The proportions have to be just right but, when done properly, it's amazing!

The gray tones seen in the more public areas of the home soften to soothing slate blue and gray in the master bedroom. The clients already owned most of the furniture and accessories. Hallberg had the bench reupholstered in soft blue mohair, had bedding custom made with fabrics from Kravet and reassigned the clients' prints to a place over the headboard. Nice use of white. Think I'd prefer fabric pelmets to gauzy curtains. Love the bench at the end of the bed. Great place to stow extra pillows during night and comforter during day.
