Stencils are not just for walls. Here a stencil is used to create a design on fabric. For this room Lauren of Pure Style Home stenciled a length of fabric, which then became a canopy in a nursery.
Very dark colors can be intimidating to use in a baby's room (or anywhere in your home), but navy blue walls work great in this nursery. The dark color creates a cozy feel while the lighter fabrics add brightness.
Instead of the traditional framed artwork above your child’s crib, consider creating a small canopy with fabric. You can create something like this at home with a bolt of inexpensive muslin, stencils and paint.
Like muslin, drop cloth is neutral and simple. You may want to add detail or color to integrate it better with your decor. This talented DIYer stamped a pattern onto a large sheet of drop cloth and draped it over the baby's crib. Originally an inexpensive utility fabric, it's now transformed into a glamorous textile.
Again, really loving this room idea. Now that I am seeing the expanded picture, I love it even more. Definitely going to try to utilize this as an inspiration for Scout's room. I can foresee old vintage trunks filled with dress up clothes fitting in nicely!
