Solid wood construction Handcrafted, not massed produced Origin: Syria Mother of pearl inlay Shaped crown French style reproductionCondition: This chair was a showroom model and may have minor imperfections, but as shown it is overall in excellent condition. Sold as is.The Mosaic Process: The mosaic making technique is a very complex operation that starts with cutting different types of exotic woods such as Peach Wood, Rose Wood, Lemon Wood, and Walnut Wood in different geometric shapes such as triangles, squares, stars etc. with a length of app. 12" long sticks. Then the sticks are patterned together and glued to form the unique shapes. The glued sticks are then sliced in thin layers app. 1/8" and hand inlaid in different shapes and patterns to cover the wood frame / surface. Then the Mother of Pearl is added to the surface of the wood to add more beauty, value and uniqueness to the piece. The unfinished mosaic surface then is glued with specially treated unique glue that has to be prepared and cooked for hours before it is used. The surface of the mosaic is finished and grinded before the final finish is hand rubbed into the surface. After which special material is used to perform the final finish. This procedure is a very complex procedure that requires extreme detail, accuracy and patience. Not just anyone can perform the mosaic process and requires a master craftsman specializing in this field of inlay. Mother of pearl can only be inlaid into solid woods, mainly solid walnut, so rest assured that most of the structure will be solid walnut with only limited areas of MDF. Due to the high human involvement in performing this process, it makes each mosaic piece unique. The Mosaic items we import are very hard to come by and literally we are the only company in the USA able to import them from the Middle East due to the political unrest. Mosaic making started in Syria which is one of the oldest countries in the world. The Assyrians (Today referred to as Syrians) have mastered the mosaic process and all pieces are literally hand made from scratch with no machines involved at all. We are fortunate that our president travels the Middle East often and has established excellent contacts with some of the most reputable workshops in the Middle East today. This is investment quality furniture that will last you forever, and will appreciate in value. If you don't know much about this furniture and how hard it is to bring in to the USA, please email us any questions. We are setting very low prices on these items, please bid with confidence...
