This remodeled kitchen was transformed from a tiny compact kitchen to a small scale kitchen with much improved flow and storage. The space has become the central location for family interaction. An arched wall of a breakfast room was removed to create a better flow and layout to the space. We created the remembrance of the original arch within the new cabinetry detail over the built in bench seating and also within the hood.

Counter space to the right of cooktop! Great idea! - Currently my stove, on the left, is next to a wall.
I'm planning on removing that wall (between the dining room and kitchen), yet leaving my stove where it is.
I had no idea how to bring space to the left of my stove, without making it look obtrusive into the dining room.
The way you did your shelf is amazing!
This is the first idea I have found, after looking through hundreds of houzz photos!
Any other ideas/suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!
PS - your thoughts on helping the shelf, so little hands can't reach up and get to the stove top? »
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B Thank you so much, that was a design challenge to balance the symmetry of the cabinetry with hood and also create a "buffer" from the cooktop to the traffic coming in the door. I would suggest as much as you can extend the counter beside a cooktop, the better. That is good for little hands as well as an adult passing by the cook area.
Best of luck!
juanita007 Love it! Could you tell me is black honed granite a good choice for a kitchen perimeter? Id love to use it but so many different opinions of its use. Some say you can see every fingerprint and oil mark, others say it will go away over time and that the patina? Help.
Best of luck!
