what is the specific locking mechanism and who sells it? »
Vin de Garde Wine Cellars Inc Hi Blair - The locking mechanism is commonly known as a "MAG-LOCK" - a magnetic locking system. We installed an access panel on the right hand side of the unit. Access is given by swiping the fob. The magnetic locks are installed at the top of the doors. There are a number of manufacturers of this type of system. If you send me details on your installation, I can help with a recommendation on which system will suit. Please contact me through our website www.vindegarde.ca
Kivi Seems like an odd idea to lock the wine cellar, but I remember doing some work for a fellow who had a nice wine collection. He was very upset when he learned that his long time cleaning lady had been helping herself to some expensive bottles.
Rods that hold the bottles - The metal Rods that are designed to hold the bottles in place. Are those sold specifically for that purpose or are they an aftermarket piece that happened to work. Either way where would you buy something like that. »
You can find Vin de Garde's 'wine wall series' as shown in the photograph online which can be purchased as modular components via our online store here: http://store.vindegarde.ca/categories/wine-cellar-racking.html; or, you can visit www.vindegarde.ca to inquire about a custom wine fridge with the 'wine wall' components.
Vin de Garde Wine Cellars Inc hi shihan - the type of cooling unit depends on what surrounds the wine cellar space. i can make better recommendations with more information. can you send me a floor plan of the level that your cellar will be on? do you have a budget in mind for the cooling system? please contact me through our website - www.vindegarde.ca

1. Control the climate. If you have the budget for it, Cravotta suggests investing in a wine room–specific HVAC system. “They keep consistent and proper balance between temperature and humidity in a way conventional systems cannot,” he says.
If we were to just have a wine cold room in the house and no bar something like this against the dining room wall could perhaps work well, or in the kitchen?

If nothing works then this is one of the last resorts. Put this cellar system in and have it be a wall in teh room with seating, dishwasher and storage for other liquor and accesories.
