upper cabinets in one finish and lower cabinets in another - I have oak cabinets in my log home that need to be refinished. I was thinking about a white paint pickled on the upper cabinets and refinish the lower cabinets in oak finish. Would that look silly? I am afraid of making a mistake that would be very costly to fix.

Carla Aston | Interior Designer Marilynn...they do have the same knobs. They are clear glass. Kind of a vintage look. They just stand out more on the darker cabinets.
What color is the granite? I have similar green-blue cupboards (top and bottom). Do I go with a light granite and backsplash or darker granite (verde butterfly) and lighter backsplash like yours? »
Celia Lan Today’s kitchens are adopting color and an increased choice of available Granite Countertop, while stainless steel remains a true competitor. Color is coming back to the Granite Slab, and one way to carry color into the kitchen is with a Cast Iron sink. Companies have made beautiful cast iron products since its early beginnings in the late 1800s.
mousemaker sorry. it's not my kitchen..i was just answering about the microwave :)
we just finished a kitchen remodel though so i feel like an authority :)
If you have a traditional kitchen and fear that the mix-and-match style will be too modern and out of place, fear not. Lovely gray and white painted Shaker style cabinets look just right together, especially with the deep farmhouse sink.
Blue is layered to lovely effect in this compact kitchen. The pale hue on the walls helps to reinforce the stronger one on the cabinetry, with the backsplash tile strip tying the two together.
Deciding on a color scheme and running with it is always a bold choice. The payoff in this kitchen — where the walls and cabinets are different shades of blue — is huge! I doubt this space would look as fresh if the lower cabinets were a basic white.

different colored lower and upper cabinets: great idea to get rid of new cabinets to fit new sink and countertops but keep old, upper cabinets that are still useable. Plus, farmhouse sink and stainless steal appliances, and blinds and backsplace
I like white but not all white. I can take this kind of colour if done right. White gray beige and a colour. Not all white. And not a glaring white. A muted white.
