Linda McDougald Design | Postcard from Paris Home The cream and black marble floors along with old plank hardwood is certainly appropriate but, make sure your hardwoods are not too rustic. Parisian city homes and apartments often defined open spaces with changes in floor patterns for example, a hallway maybe done in a chevron pattern while the living room in parquet. You may wish to experiment with some flooring patterns to add subtle interest to the space. Parisian homes also implemented beautiful rich but simple moldings and wall paneling. Be sure to paint it in a light consistent color throughout. Don't be afraid to use the same color on walls, ceilings, trim and cabinetry. The French are masters in repetition when it comes to colors, textures, and shapes within a design. Repetition in design gives continuity and cohesion to a room. Lastly, keep it well edited and stay away from kitschy accessories and objects.
