quantumnerd Gee no answer yet, darn. The wood is awesome, I love it. Probably reclaimed wood from an old cabin somewhere. Eh, I don't know just a guess.
... Or not quite as much. Just make sure to use more wood than you would if you were actually building a fire — it looks more purposeful that way.

I love this steel enclosure for the fireplace. Bold and simple. It looks like there is also an acid treatment to bring out some of the color and provide it with some texture. Beautiful.
