Magis | Downtown Shelving System

Design by Oiva Toikka, 2011.
Made in Italy by Magis. The Downtown Shelving System offers skyscraper style storage. Reminiscent of building blocks, this square shelving unit features five upwardly decreasing sized tiers, smooth slanted transitions from one tier to the next, a pointed top roof, and legs to raise it off the floor. Recessed squares indicate the windows along three sides of the unit, while the fourth side is wide open for easy access. Proudly display favored toys, or camouflage the contents by angling the shelf to show the "windowed" sides. The Downtown Shelving System is created from rotational molded polyethylene and is suitable for outdoor use.Inspired by his granddaughter's propensity for drawing and a lack of appropriate children's desks, Eugenio Perazza conceived the Me Too Collection. Instead of scaling down adult-sized furniture to smaller proportions, he went in search of a design team in and outside of Magis that could think from the perspective of a kid. The resulting Me Too Collection speaks to a child's voice demanding something of their own. Designed for children between two and six years old, the Me Too Collection offers objects that correspond to their own world, not only in dimensions but in values as well.
