1.) How large your room is, should correlate with how large the blades are. A small room doesn't need very long blades and vice versa.

2.) More blades usually result in more air pushed through the space. Newer and more modern fans like the one showed here may be very efficient and may not need many blades.

3.) Choose a style that goes with your decor, and consider how far down the fan will extend from the ceiling, without it accidentally being interfered with.
