Greetings and thank you for taking the time to field my question. I have a living room/dining room built in the 40's. The house has popcorn ceiling and some sort of "built in" crown molding, not your typical molding. its a lowered "lip" about a foot in width that goes all around the ceiling. so basically you got the ceiling and as you approach the edge to the walls the ceiling drops about an inch or half inch creating a border of some type.
I can email a pic but not sure how toto post here doesn't seem to give me an option to upload a pic. Anyhow my question is we are going to repaint the rooms. Currently its all white and popcorn ceiling. we are going to remove popcorn and paint walls one color and paint the ceiling a lighter shade of the walls. But I m a bit lost on what to do with that border treat it like crown molding and paint it white to separate out the wall and ceiling color? Let me know if I can send you a picture of the ceiling. »
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B Hi bml1996,
It may be helpful to email a photo. Feel free to send to klbdesigns@hotmail.com. Based on seeing it, I may have a few suggestions. I would want to know what is your style in the home? Have you decorated in a more modern or more traditional style? Does the room have lots of light/windows, or only a little?
First thing is first though, you should address that popcorn ceiling with a professional. There is a high chance that the popcorn ceiling contains asbestos. Have that checked out and if it does, then have the professionals do the removal.
Look forward to seeing the photo!

Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B Hi Allison,
This sofa was made by a local furniture craftsman. Since the living room was small, we needed to look for a sofa with very specific dimensions. The craftsman was able to make the sofa to our exact specifications and this allowed us to test the stuffing while he was making it. We did a mixture of cotton batting and down feathers for best comfort.
