Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B Hello, I would need to look for that particular drawing, which is on back up files. I believe it was approximately between 75-85" wide.
jedward9 Does anyone know what would be a lighter shade for Wheeling Neutral HC-92 by Benjamin Moore? I love the concept of using a lighter shade and I want to achieve a similar look for my bedroom. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance!
carolinnamy Benjamin Moore Putnam ivory is slightly lighter then wheeling neutral. You can also email Benjamin Moore through Facebook they give excellent color advice!
COASTROAD Hearth & Patio This is a big ballpark, but I would say this this is $4,000-$10,000 project to have this done professionally, making the following assumptions:
1. You have a blank wall approximately 12'-14' wide, which is about how wide the wall in the photo is. By the way, the arrangement is symmetrical, with a bookcase on each side.
2. The wall is on the outside of the house. An interior wall will make it more complicated.
3. You are OK with a gas fireplace. You could use an unvented or direct vent gas fireplace. A wood burning fireplace will be more complicated, because it will need to vent straight up and likely will require building a chase on the outside of the house. Which = More $$
4. You don't pick glass mosiac tiles that are $100 per square foot.
The good news is that the National Association of Real Estate Appraisers estimates you can raise the selling price of your home by 6-12% just by adding a fireplace, so it's a good investment.
I'd recommend going straight to a fireplace specialist instead of a general contractor. Find one here at he National Fireplace Institute: http://nficertified.org/
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B Coastroad Hearth & Patio, thank you for your response. I do recommend having someone local look at the particular site to evaluate the construction and give estimates.
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B The tile around the fireplace is a 1x1 ceramic mosaic. The ceramic body has a metallic glaze on it. They come from Pratt & Larson Tile - out of Portland, Oregon. We used 3 or 4 colors from their metallic color palette in a random mix.
