Command Central: This room is the renovated home office that was once a small guest room. It is right off the kitchen on the main floor, so it made a great location for the family home office. The cabinetry is the same style and color as the kitchen so one room flows nicely with the next. The countertop is a warm grey limestone with shells and fossils appearing in the stone. The wall behind the desk and in between the wall cabinets is covered with a tack board that is then covered with a burlap material. The deep drawers to the left make a perfect location for long rolls of wrapping paper.

Can you tell me what the countertops are made of? Lovely with the cream cabinets. »
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B Thanks for your comment. This was just a couple days after the homeowner had moved in, and I had not planned on photographing this room. Otherwise, the cords would have been contained.
Are these cabinets custom made? - Can you tell me where the cabinets were purchased or if they were custom made? If custom made can you please tell me who made them? Beautiful room! Thanks! »
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B Hello, they were made to order, and were ordered through Studio KB with one of my manufacturers. They were ordered per my design.
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B The company, Sun Valley, I believe, was bought by another company....so I am not sure of new numbers or if still available.
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B Ah! good one. Well, this photo was taken right when the client moved into the house and the computer was quickly put together and little details like hiding the cable was not done yet. I was not actually planning on photographing this room, but decided to at last minute, which is why you see the lovely shot of all those cords!
Well, I would either use a cable organizer or build an "L" shape channel out of cabinetry solid stock under the desk area, up against the wall. That channel could also be designed so it creates a cleat for countertop support.
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B Thanks for the suggestion. This photo wasn't going to be taken when the house was photographed. The family was in the process of moving in....so the little things like cord management wasn't done yet.
Cordini If you would like to try Cordini it's a great product, just let me know. I invented it and a master electrician so I made sure it works. It's tough too, I ran over it w/my truck it did not crack!
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B Hi!
I would need to check records on exact style number, but I do know they are a Sun Valley Bronze item. They are shown here with a backplate, which is optional.

Carolina V. Gentry, RID These are simple shaker style cabinets. It appears the long upper cabinet doors might be custom since they have an off center break. The shaker style cabinet is available at most cabinet manufacture or home improvement stores. Its simple and can go more contemporary or traditional, depending on the door hardware, counter top and backsplash you choose.
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B These cabinets were made by Woodharbor Cabinetry & Doors. Some pieces were modified, or considered custom. The door style is one that most manufacturers carry (or something similar).
Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B Hello, sorry for the late reply on the countertop color question. I was able to find my notes on this specification. The countertop is a limestone called Cafe Pinta.

Kayron Brewer, CKD, CBD / Studio K B Sorry, I cannot find the source for those lights. It was a mail order catalog and don't have the name anymore. I did see something very similar in the Pottery Barn catalog recently.
Coordinate your board with the rest of your room. This board fits in well with the neutral color scheme of the room, and its darker color punctuates the depth between the two cabinets.

2. While this home office was built into an old guest room, many Houzz users saved it as an idea for a great kitchen desk. The built-in shelving and limestone countertops would look great in any room.
If sunlight isn’t a possibility, make sure you have ample lighting otherwise. Of course, large picture windows aren’t available in every home office. Make sure to have a mix of ambient, overhead light and adequate task lighting directly above the desk.
