perkyperko Lovely room filled with light and warmth! I like the style of your dining chairs. Would you be able to provide the brand and where you purchased them from? Thanks!

Kevin Gray Interiors Inc If you are looking for a very crisp clean white which is a true 'neutral' white (ie: not too yellow, not too blue) I recommend C2 paint's 'architetural white'. www.C2paint.com. If you are looking for a white which IS slightly cream - and I sense the paint in this picture is slightly cream - I recommend Farrow and Ball's Wimborne White #239.
Niki Papadopoulos These are most likely custom made. I love the mixing of the two fabrics, which is often an indication that they are custom. Good Luck!
pietrad I was thinking of updating my 8 custom tobacco gold dupioni silk drapes with inserting a cream color on lower portion. are there any "proportion"/fabric rules I should follow? I was happy to see this example and how lovely it looks!
I saw your response that these chairs were refinished antiques. DO you know the dimensions and could you provide them. I would love to have some made. Thank you so much. »
Jennie Nunn When choosing chairs, you should consider the dimensions of the room, the size and shape of the dining table, and the style of the home. You should also factor in comfort, durability (and wear and tear of certain fabrics for upholstered chairs), and personal style.
Lighter fabric at the top. The panels in this elegant dining room are done in 1/3 ivory and 2/3 taupe lightweight fabric. When the draperies are closed, light filters through the gauzy panels, with more brightness at the top. Lightweight fabrics and rings add casualness to an otherwise formal looking space.
After some of the ornate draperies in previous photos, these light drapes are like a breath of fresh air. Sheer fabric on the top portion allows light to stream in even if you choose to close the panels for more privacy.
If you have a room that faces the south or east, combining a sheer and a lightweight linen or silk works beautifully. For balance, the sheer here is one-third the length of the curtain. No need to line the other fabric — dappled light is the loveliest light of all. Keep in mind how the drapes look from the outside and make sure all the seams are neat and tidy.
