This country getaway needed a great room, where the owners could entertain friends and family year round. With young children, the new six hundred square foot addition had to be un-fussy, super cozy, and offer a stellar view of their private lake. The large windows, trussed timber beam ceiling, and distressed floors were designed to create architectural interest, while integrating seamlessly into the home’s existing log construction. The furnishings were carefully selected for comfort and to reflect the homeowners’ love for old and new. Modern Italian sconces and a hand-scraped metal ceiling fan nicely juxtapose the many vintage ‘objets trouvés’ and collectables. A unique collection of vintage tripods is not only sculptural, but also reflects the homeowners’ passion for photography. Various other rooms in the home, including bedrooms and bathrooms, were also updated. Replacing the original front porch, a contemporary, tiered cedar deck provides a cozy lounge area - the perfect spot for reading or cocktails
