Annie Thornton There are many arguments for and also against saltwater pools. They can be boiled down to these features.
-saltwater pools have higher initial costs, but you don't have as much of the maintenance fees that come with chlorine pools. (like the cost of purchasing chlorine)
-saltwater feels better on your skin and can be less abrasive than chlorine pools.
-newer saltwater systems can monitor and clean themselves. Having someone watch your pool when you go out of town is no longer necessary. running this 24 hours a day costs a lot of money though.
-there is less maintenance and upkeep required, but you need to check the salt levels often. salt can be very corrosive, so it's important that you stay on top of the levels.
-they are attractive. they smell better, and you don't have that unsightly pool cleaner out all of the time.
Judy We live in Florida and currently have a salt chlorine system. We switched to it after about 4 years of the old system - our pool is 7 years old. I believe the switch cost us about $2000, maybe a bit less. I agree that there definitely is less maintenance to the salt system. But my belief is that even with this system the pool still needs to be watched and cleaned - the little mechanical thingy walking on the bottom only does so much - also you need to watch for algae formation which can lead to all sorts of ugly things - but that is true for any kind of system. All in all, I'd say the consensus is that salt is better.
Grass options - We love this design but our groundsman in France is apprehensive the pool will become easily contaminated with grass cuttings when the grass is mowed.
Also, is there a potential mud creation problems with children's wet feet trampling all around the pool?
We look forward to your responses.

6. Sculpture and art. Don't feel like you have to relegate the sculpture garden to a different part of the property. Landscape around the pool with a sculpture garden to add a sense of meditative calm.
Rectangular pools might be a bit boring but we absolutely want an automatic remote operating cover, and this seems the way. And never anything wrong with classic.
