Regarding large pottery containers for the garden. - What is best to use in the bottom as a filler so you don' have to use so much dirt and make it so heavy? »
zenasugar02 Thank you so much for you reply. So what I did, after reading your answer, is good. I used Lava rock in the bottom for weight, because here in New Jersey this year we have been getting some really crazy, windy storms, and I feared that my 2 containers, which are made from fiberglass and cast stone could possibly be blown over. I used two round containers, approximately 14/16 inches diameter, made my flower arrangement and inserted one in each pot. With the lava rock on the bottom and the plants on the top I feel confident now that they will not tip over and break.

In this entry garden, vertical lattice paneling is aligned on center with the axis of the pathway and frames a tall, elegant, planted urn. Together, the screening and the container help protect the interior seating area from view, although you can catch just enough of a hint of what's inside to explore further.
Add a TrellisTime required: If it's one that leans against or attaches to the house, just a few minutes. For something more elaborate like this one, you'll likely need to hire someone for a day. Starting budget: An architectural trellis from Hayneedle is $70.You can attach one to a wall, build a wall of trellises or create an outdoor divider with one like you see here. Leave it plain or plant vines like clematis at the base and watch them climb.
A fountain like this one takes time for a designer to draw up plus a few days for a pro to install. But it takes just minutes to add a tabletop fountain to your patio.
