Need help on floor choice. - Hi ,
We would like to know what flooring was used in this picture.
Our house plans are still with the architect. We are looking for modem and efficiency in cleaning floors as we have a family member with a disability. Our home is wheelchair accessible.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thank you. »
Habachy Designs Thank you for your interest in my work! This tile is actually a porcelain tile and was special ordered from Italy. Came in a special pattern using three different size tiles that we had to actually lay out in the floor coverings plan. I think it porcelain would be a great option for durability if that is what you're looking for. This material is used in high-traffic commercial spaces. Aesthetically, porcelain tile manufacturers have come a long way replicating the look & feel of natural stone tile.
BPF: Do you think that decorating is just as difficult as interior design? How are the two different as far as challenges are concerned?
MH: I interpret interior design to be a bit more technical, similar to architecture. It involves more calculated details and drawings, like designing custom furnishings, a kitchen or an interior stairwell. Decorating is more about selecting and pulling things together like furnishings, fabrics and accessories. There is certainly an art to both! Good designers and decorators must have a sense for the same fundamental design principals...proportion and scale to name a few.
Interior designer Michael Habachy concurs: "A misconception about Atlanta is that because Atlanta is part of the South, the designs need to be conservative and more traditional in style."
