Futuro Futuro Kitchen Range Hoods The cooktop looks like a 6-burner, 36-inch wide one. The hood is 36 inches wide (looks very much like our 36" Plane Island model) and is installed about 38-40 inches above the cooktop. This is a bit higher than the recommended height. However, at this height is looks like it will not obstruct the view at all. We generally recommend mounting the hood about 26-30 inches above the cooktop, for best capture performance. As the steam/grease/smoke rises from the cooktop, it spreads out, so if the hood should be low enough to capture everything before it escapes out into the room. The final decision is a compromise between the recommended installation height, the user's cooking habits, and the importance of the view.
