This room had no closets or architectural details. We installed Ikea PAX cabinets on either side of the window and framed them in with drywall to make them look built in. There is a radiator beneath the window which we hid with the window seat.

Is a seat cushion like the one used in the photo something that i custom made or something you can purchase? »
nathansmum @susanlam. Can you please let me know if you were happy with the final product. I was contemplating getting cushions from there as well but I was not sure. Thanks!
susanlam I just received my cushions this week from Cushion Source and am very pleased with the end product. Quality is very good and they came earlier than quoted. I ordered sample fabrics to make sure the colors matched and was very glad I did. I ended up changing one of my fabric choices. I couldn't be happier with the cushions.
I love the wall unit. - I am doing a variation of how your wall is I was wonder how high is your bench? I have 8 year old and the bench I found is only 13 3/4 high I am thinking of going higher. The two side units I am going to use are the ikea pax mirror units on the side. Thanks »
Flores had always wanted a window seat, and her daughter Chloe's nursery was just the spot. Those aren't actual built-ins flanking the window. They installed IKEA cabinets on either side, added the pretty mesh over the radiator, and finished it with a soft seat cushion with two bolsters.
Use nooks and unusual spaces for storage. Don’t have room for a built-in? Look around the nursery and see where you can sneak in storage, such as adding baskets to a shelf above the window and installing shelving on the wall.

13. While this room is stunning on its own, Houzzers bookmarked it for its smart use of Ikea cabinetry. By installing the cabinets on either side of this window space and framing them with drywall, the designer was able to make it look like they were built into the room.
The perfect shelving. Ikea makes great shelves. It might even be what the company does best. And shelves are basic enough to blend. As long as the rest of the room isn't pure Ikea, go crazy with the shelving.
