Architects Magnus As architects for the project, we custom designed and detailed the screen. Adding a new screen to your existing home could affect the structure and the weatherproofing. My suggestion is to consult with an architect in your area to help you through the details. Best - Hector Magnus, AIA, architectsmagnus.com
I own a mid-century modern home that screams for translucent doors. Where do I source this type of door please? Thanks - convertassets@gmail.com - glenn barnett (713) 416-4660 Text/Cell »
Keely Thomas_Moore First off, is that your house, or is that kind of the inspiration for you house? Cause I'm a little bit in love with it. Not just the glass doors, but the wood slatted garage doors. Where did you find the picture? I would be interested in learning more about that home itself and the garage door installation process, and how they work. I mean, those are awesome! ( http://baldwingaragedoorsandgates.com )
Architects Magnus Hi Keely - Thanks for the kind words. The house isn't mine (though I wish!). We designed this house for a lovely couple and their family. The garage doors are custom metal swing gates made with polycarbonate sheets (interior) and wood slats. The slats interlock and, when they operate, stop traffic on the street. The "big" concept was to conceal/disguise the garage from the front view. Glad you like them. - HM
This garage leaps off the screen for the translucent doors that stand out at night. But it's safe to assume that most of the time the lights are off and the wood screen predominates, just as during the day. These horizontal slats continue in a band across the front of the house, creating a strong link between the two; this is strengthened in the garage's roof doubling as a terrace for the master bedroom.
