A kitchen this size needs an expansive island. At nearly 5 x 9, this island contains the cooktop, oven, warming drawer, seating for 4 and a cookbook shelf. This is truly the center of the kitchen.

Cabinets - What are the height measurements of both the taller and shorter/smaller upper cabinets? »
Nice island legs! - I really the like the scale of these - solid and not to skinny. but not too much! Will you please share the dimensions of the legs in this design? I'm concerned b/c it doesn't appear my cabinet guy can get legs in this scale.
Also - does the floor have 3.5" wide planks? Medium stain or something more specific??
THANK YOU in advance! »
rtoc1014 Follow-up question ... how much space do you have between island and sink and island and fridge? trying to figure out if 6" legs will fit and not compromise the comfortable moving space around kitchen. THANK YOU!
Jason Ball Interiors, LLC Most likely I have 48" on the sink side and 42" on the refrigerator side. This kitchen is for an active family and it was important to have good pathways around the island.
Jason Ball Interiors, LLC We used about 14" of depth on the barstool side. This gives plenty of room to slide a stool under the counter and not have it stick out into the walkway.
Jason Ball Interiors, LLC Hi sandrastout - this cooktop is a 36" with a pop-up downdraft. The island is massive at 8.5 feet long and nearly 5 feet deep. Hope this helps.
Jason Ball Interiors, LLC I don't remember the exact dimensions, but the sink run of cabinets is about 12 feet. The refrigerator run is about 9 feet. I think the island ended up being about 5 x 10 (or something really close to that).
Jason Ball Interiors, LLC The downdraft systems will never be as effective as a regular vent hood, especially if you do serious cooking. There is a new downdraft that is slightly more effective because it comes 18" up from the counter top. You would do any higher moisture cooking on the back burners to increase ventilation effectiveness.
