Illuminated Sculpture:

My illuminated sculptures use light to reveal the sculptured texture and form of the reclaimed wood. These heavily textured sculptural light fixtures reveal nature through simplicity.

This Piece:

Made from reclaimed Satin wood this piece is a cross cut slab using the principle of a coin where the two sides of the slab slice is finished with different textures. This slab sits on wooden stand painted satin black. The glass wedge is created with recycled glass recast with a resin binder. It comes with a 36" foot black 12v transformer and cable that can be plugged into an AC outlet. The light source is a LED light strip around the base of the sculpture embedded in clear epoxy. There is a light switch discreetly mounted on the face of the base This design detail allows this piece to be the perfectly scaled sculpture for a shelf or small table.

Making These Sculptures:

This is a one-of-a-kind handmade work of art made from an specific piece of reclaimed wood. I begin the process by searching for trunks and limbs from abandoned trees and other sources. After the wood is dried outside for months it is kiln dried. The faces are kept rough with minimal . The piece is finished with poly-urethane varnish. I take great care throughout the entire process resulting in a piece of refined art still retaining a handmade quality and organic beauty.
