pandapants i can't magnify the image, but it looks to me like a soft wood with a cherry stain. my dad is a woodworker, and i can't really match the grain to any of the exotic woods i have seen before. just a thought, hopefully someone will come in and be able to be more accurate.

Bentley Design My guess is that it is quarter sawn Sapele or African Mahogany the stripping you see is very common in both of these woods. We use it all the time when building these type of cabinets.
