What is the range hood made out of? How do I go about making this? - Is this tile? If so what kind? I love the fact that it is different than the cabinetry.

In a kitchen, moving the outlets to a lower, horizontal position helps keep them out of the design-critical parts of the backsplash. And because you won't have long cords snaking up to a higher plug, they'll be mostly out of sight when in use.

backsplash - The look I am trying to acheive. Squares in the bottom row, then the border and above that, tiles in diamond pattern. The Mosaic goes behind the cooktop enclosed inside the border.
