Jonnie Andersen Vintage, yes. I've found a couple of them at thrift stores/flea markets. They should start making them again; I could have sold about a thousand of them if the shipping weren't so darned expensive.
I have been looking for ages for a wall clock like the one in this photo. Does anyone know a source for working vintage wall clocks or brand-new vintage/schoolhouse style clocks that look just like this? Thank you! »
Bettina S So funny! Enjoy your vacation. For now, until I find the real thing, I decided on the Infinity "retro" clock sold by LLBean for $19.99; small and not as much presence, but it does the job. Its main purpose was to teach my son to tell analog time since all he ever sees are digital clocks, but I am also really enjoying having it on our kitchen wall. Thank you for all the replies.
schwager Ohhhh ... what a good mommy!!! In 4th grade we do a graphing activity where the kids record the number of analog vs. digital clocks. Every year it's fewer and fewer analogs, and most kids only see them at school. Glad you found one.
This one image captures a few current trends. They're so trendy, in fact, many companies are creating facsimiles for purchase. The hanging school clock, empty baroque gold frame, army-issue trunk, rattan headboard and grain sack pillows are all items to look for at flea markets.
They won't be as nicely displayed as they are here so have extra keen vision for these because people in the know will snap them up for resale. Go early if you can to snag the trendy items.
Vintage hunting in person can be a satisfying pastime, and you never know what treasures you will come home with. If you decide to take a day trip to explore a flea market or antiques fair, it pays to be prepared. More and more fairs are accepting credit cards, but you are more likely to stay on budget with good old greenbacks
