Island/bar overhang - If the height of the island is 42" and the height of the 42" and the depth of the upper counter top is 12", how much of 12" of the upper countertop overlaps the island? »
chlorinequeen I have to second quess that answer, is the total depth 56 inches or just the lower part? It seems it would be hard to reach the people across and to clean if the bottom portion were 56" I am trying to design my island and running into that problem. love the look of this one. However I am putting a cooktop instead of sink. Love the floors too.
Fran Kerzner- DESIGN SYNTHESIS The lower portion is 56" . You cannot reach the people across the island. We were not trying to serve them from the other side.
Fran Kerzner- DESIGN SYNTHESIS Standard counter and island height is 36" , the upper part would be 42" (which is standard bar height). But of course you can adjust it for very tall or shorter homeowners. But if you are going to have seating and you don't use standard heights you may have to customize the chair seat heights as well.
Lightcrafters, Inc. I make one that is similar. I've attached images. I'd like to point out several differences. Ours are handmade to your specifications in Austin, TX USA. Ours incorporate candles that flicker randomly like real candles and illuminate independently from the downward facing puck lights. Ours are made of copper or stainless steel. Or what the heck, we can do it in steel and paint it any color you like ;) Thanks for looking.
Walker Zanger trudiahart, the island really looks like it may be a solid surface product. It could be a limestone because it's very clean with very little movement, but it's difficult to see from the photo.
How do you trim drywall that comes down to counter top? - I have a built out hood surround that is done in drywall with tile inside which is above the range. My question is how do I trim out the face and outside of the drywall that comes down as a column and rests on the granite counter top. »
