This is a living room, feature wall I designed/built. It is ledgestone, with a ribbon flame, gas fireplace and built-in TV cabinet door, which actually swings open to reveal an abundance of built-in storage behind. The built-in cabinets that flank it also offer additional storage and built-in speakers. The square cabinets below hold the subwoofers for the Dolby 7.1, movie theater surround sound.

hardware on cabinets - i love the hardware on the cabinets...can you tell me where they came from? »
Jordan Iverson Signature Homes thebraces - Thanks. It's been a few years, but I actually do remember they were made by Atlas Hardware. If they're still available you can find them on their website. http://www.atlashomewares.com/
How were you able to mount the TV so low/close to fireplace? What brand/model of fireplace is it? - I'm looking to do something very similar but every fireplace I find has a minimum clearance of 36" above the fireplace before any combustible material can be installed. Doesn't your shelving behind the TV (and the TV itself) get too hot from the fireplace? »
Peter Basso Happy to get information to you and would be interested in talking about forming a relationship. Feel free to email me at pete@ecosmartfire.com. I look forward to hearing from you.
COASTROAD Hearth & Patio There are plenty of great choices in linear fireplaces these days, unlike a few years ago. Take a look at some of what is available now here: http://pinterest.com/pyrotom/places-of-fire-linear/
The fireplace was a model purchased from Montigo: http://www.montigo.com/ I've used many similar fireplaces from Heat n Glo as well that have the ribbon flame style.
Jordan Iverson Signature Homes Hello, the TV is a 50" Panasonic Plasma. I believe the width of the fireplace is 42". It is a Montigo Natural gas Linear fireplace.
Hi, I'm one of the designers who writes featured Ideabooks here on Houzz. I'm writing one about built-ins around fireplaces. I plan to include your photo of this fireplace and I want to be sure I understand your description. It says there is a built-in tv cabinet door that swings open to reveal storage behind it. Does that mean the the tv itself swings forward and you can access storage behind it? Or did I misunderstand and you are talking about the side cabinets. If the tv itself swings open on a door, do you have a photo of it in the open position? Thank you!

What: The built-ins here did not need to store anything out in the open except for the TV and the subwoofers. But they did need to hold an extensive DVD collection and miscellaneous storage. A little extra seating in the room was desirable as well. How: You're just not going to believe how much hidden storage there is in the built-ins around this fireplace. Of course, you can see the fitted alcove for the TV above the fireplace. You can also see that the subwoofers have their own spots near the floor on both sides. You may be thinking that the cabinets on either side are probably just shallow shelves for the DVDs, right?
