I Will Let You In On A Little Secret: I Tend To Use Paintings As My Visual Journal. In College, I Would Sneak Around Assignments To Get Done What I Really Need To Do: Process. This Painting Is A Prime Example Of My Sneaky Processing. I Had An Assignment To Paint Planes (As In Walls/ Flat Structures). (P.S. Does That Actually Sound Fun To Anyone?) To Fulfill The Assignment, I Created This Huge Still Life Painting Of A Wooden Crate In Complementary Colors. Check Check Check, I Got The Assignment Done. However, Lucky For Me, On A Symbol Level, I Was Actually Doing What I Really Needed To Do: Coming To Grips With The Man I Would Marry 6 Months Later . It Turns Out That My Husband And I Are Really Different People (As In Opposite Colors, Purple And Yellow), And In Order For Really Different People To Come Together, I Realized That We Would Need Need Straps, Staples And Nails. Those Things Generally Don'T Feel That Good, But When They Are In Place, The Two People Can Create Something So Much Stronger And Bigger Than Themselves.

All That To Say: This Painting Is A Study Of A Wooden Crate, Yes, But Also A Study Of Diverse People And Personalities Coming Together.
About The Artist:
My Deep Love Of Imagery Sprouted Within Me When I Was A Little Girl. I Lived For The Quiet Hours Of The Day When I Could Draw, Paint And Otherwise Capture The World Swirling Around Me. Creating Was As Innate As Breathing And Soon Became My Means Of Processing And Appreciating Life.

I First Picked Up A Camera When I Was Twelve Years Old And Haven'T Been Able To Put It Down Since. In College, I Studied Fine Art And Graphic Design, And Am Now Using My Understanding Of These Subjects To Strengthen My Photography, Studio Art And Design.

Exploring Life Through Art And Photography Has Allowed Me To Capture Images That Reflect The Deepest Parts Of Myself And The People Around Me. These Images Create An Enduring Space For Celebration, Contemplation And Healing.
