There are times when the sun plays a little magic on a half tended garden spot. I seek those moments to paint because they bring such pleasure and a sense of deep reverie. Thank you for looking!

About the artist:

My life is heavily invested in painting. I paint what I see and what I feel, I always said to my students, "Painting is just drawing with something wet", so I guess you could say I draw too, I paint outside, "en plein air" at least twice a week to (guaranteed) keep my eye fresh and spirits bright. I paint in the studio where the subjects range from landscape, figure to my own distinct flavor of florals in overgrown, untended settings. But to digress, one memorable day in high school I had an epiphany about my life's work. I knew in that moment I wanted to be an artist and an art teacher. So, I pursued a bachelors and masters (MFA) in drawing and painting, and I started out teaching high school (and loved it) for 19 years, including 2 years in Australia. Then it was time to get after my own artistic voice and work. Since then, painting has been a huge part of my life. From my very early years (other than wanting a happy home and close relationships with family and friends) ar
t studies and painting have been my life focus. Well... I can't forget to mention a lot of happy service in the community and my church too, but even there, my time is tied to art. Sometimes I think it's a divine path and sometimes I think I'm just really, joyfully selfish! But either way, I know I HAVE TO paint! It keeps me balance, connected and healthy. But If I can use my skills and creativity to contribute something of worth to the world and to anyone who can appreciate or be benefited by it, I'll give it my sincerest best effort. Thank you!
