French Normandy Kitchen
A warm and wlecoming kitchen awaits these homeowners every morning. The kitchen was specifically designed to coordinate beautifully with the clients older home which had a very European flavor to it. The warmth and and elegance of the mustard cabinets contrasts with the use the slate and wood floor. New wrought iron fixtures were custom designed to bring in a feeling of old world elegance. Hand done plaster walls received further aging through a combination of a multi layer glaze .

I cannot remember the finish we put on the wood whether it was a polyurathene of a waxed finish. My homeowner has not had any problems with this treatment. it looks as good as the day we put it in!

This stone was called Chinese slate .However, if you like it, best to take the photo with you when looking , Otherwise if you like I can locate the tile for you if you purchase it thru my firm.

"The mustard yellow is very indicative of a French color palette, and the hand-done plaster technique on the walls, with the overglaze of a faux-finish technique, makes the walls look aged.""Using just one color in the room allows for other features to shine such as the wonderful wrought iron light fixtures, the copper hood, and the slate floor," she says. "The oak board and Chinese slate floor is a take off on the beautiful herringbone wood floors that you sometimes see in French homes."
