A contemporary kitchen remodel located in Campbell, California. This was a design-build project to create an open concept, modern, contemporary, bright, but an inviting / warm family kitchen. The kitchen features white custom built cabinets, with black quartz countertops, and Thermador stainless steal appliances.
Futuro Futuro Kitchen Range Hoods The cooktop is 36" wide, and the hood seems to be about 32-34" above it. This is in line with the recommendations from most major range hood manufacturers (26" - 36" is the "spread").
Futuro Futuro Kitchen Range Hoods We get this question all the time. The answer is, "as long as you remember to turn on the hood while cooking, the vast majority of grease will be pulled into the filters. There will be little, if any, grease sticking to the bottom of the glass - and any that does stick, can be easily removed with Windex or any other non-abrasive glass cleaner".
For more information on this, and other common range hood concerns, please visit our "Range Hood FAQ". Your specific question is # 21: http://www.futurofuturo.com/rangehood-FAQ.php
Don't let grease-o-phobia keep you from choosing a range hood design that you really enjoy!
Build For Me Construction This project was quite some time ago and I cannot remember if the quartz was a particular brand. It was sourced from a local supplier in San Jose, California (don't remember which one...sorry). It is most likely not made by a major brand. We will often take customers to local dealers to pick out the countertops and there is usually no more than 3 or 4 slabs from the same batch. It is much less expensive to do it this way and you get a more unique finished product. This countertop is a smooth finish, so no texture or leather feel. I hope that helps. We have dozens of good local dealers in the San Jose area that source stone that are not branded.
tennisballs Love the backsplash. Is it marble or ceramic? Do you remember the name or brand or where you bought it? I live in SF so could go to the same place.
How wide is the cooktop & Can any wall oven be placed below the cooktop? - I am doing my kitchen this way and before I Purchase the appliances I just need to know if I can use a regular wall oven under the cooktop.
Thanks!!! »
Build For Me Construction The cooktop is 36" and the oven is 30" (standard oven width). You should be able to use a cooktop over a wall oven, but it really depends on the product dimensions and how it is installed. The best course of action is to get the product sheets for the cooktop and wall oven (usually available from the manufacturer's website). Measure the available space you have from the bottom of the cabinet (where the wall oven will sit) to the top of the countertop. If this is more than the combined height of the of cooktop and wall oven than you should be ok (if the installation requires a clearance between the bottom of the cooktop and top of the oven add this distance, but in any case it's a good idea to leave some space between the two). Make sure that you can return the cooktop / wall oven in case something is overlooked or you need to make a change. Hope this helps! :)
do you tile before you install the hood - Are the tiles close to the sides of the hood done after the hood is installed?
Does the curved glass part of the hood touch the back wall??
Did you cut the tiles to fit the curved glass or are they just straight cuts? »
What brand is the cooktop? - Trying to find a combo that will fit together in a standard-height cabinet. I know the oven is a Bosch, but who makes the cooktop? »
Futuro Futuro Kitchen Range Hoods If it wasn't for the exact proportions of the chimney, we would say it's our "Moon Crystal" model (product page: http://www.futurofuturo.com/wall-range-hood-WL36MOONCRYS.php). There are *many* variations on the "curved-glass-over-stainless-steel" theme, since the idea has been floating around for over a decade.
Hi There,
Can anyone please tell me whether this marble backsplash is polished or honed? And please explain the difference- as far as cleaning, sealing, stains, etc.
Thanks,
Daniel »
Rebekah Zaveloff That one looks honed...the difference is mostly aesthetic when you're talking about wall tile. For countertops you need to be more careful due to etching etc. Polished surfaces will etch with acid or vinegar, and honed surfaces may be more prone to staining...but both are sealed and less prone to this being on a vertical wall.
CarraraTiles We did not supply this job, but from what I can see, the back splash tile is 3"x6" Bianco Carrara marble. Italian origin and available through Carrara Tiles www.Carraratiles.com We have these in Polished, Honed, Beveled and Tumbled. All finished as easy to keep clean if they are sealed properly.
Nice compliment of the cabinet color with the tile backsplash - I also like the cabinet color. It appears online more mushroom or gray than white. Was it a custom color? Thank you. »
backsplash - I want to also use Carrara Marble on my backsplash. Is it as hard to maintain as the marble countertops and do you need to seal it yearly?
Thanks »
Knobs, pulls - Would you mind sharing if the knobs and pulls are stainless steel or nickel? Are they a brushed metal? Manufacturer? Do you have item numbers? Thank you so much! It is absolutely a beautiful design. »
