Andre Stewart The "something" was probably an IR (infrared) Extender/Repeater kit. The kit usually has one small device that needs to be exposed for your remote to work but you can hide all your components. Some have RF (radio frequency) capability which doesn't need anything exposed at all but your remote must support it (most don't).

Many of our clients do not want to hire a full-service designer, they're set on what they want. We do encourage them to at least run their choices by a designer for a limited consultation - and they usually come away with a broader perspective and a better result. Color makes such a huge difference, and some choices are really hard to change such as counter tops, tile, and flooring. Although an error in wall color can be fixed fairly easily, why leave it up to chance when you can get professional help. :) Rhoda

Maria Killam The sofa, dining chairs, 2 upholstered chairs and ottomans are from Stylus Furniture. The glass waterfall coffee table is from Inspiration furniture. The 3 MALM dressers that make up the entertainment center are from IKEA.

Maria Killam Well the first colour in the scheme came from the existing camel coloured broadloom. The client loved green and purple and wanted a gray green which I tweaked to a fresher green knowing that it would be easier to pull the space together. When you decorate with colours that are on trend, it's easier to find off-the-shelf accessories (and cheaper) as well. I chose cream for the second colour in the room because it works well with camel and it would be easier to change the feel in the room by just switching out the purple if you tired of it eventually.
