LORRAINE G VALE, Allied ASID Dr. Ahmadi,
I designed the layout and details myself and worked with a landscape architect to suggest the plantings. If you are interested, I can provide the details on how to purchase a copy of the as built plans.
Thank you for your interest in this outdoor space,
Lorraine
patti1369 Dear Lorraine, Just happened to catch my eye and must tell you this is absolutely gorgeous! You and your design team did a wonderful job and I just loveeeeeee it and had to tell you. Enjoy your new yard, Patti
LORRAINE G VALE, Allied ASID These are Sabal Palmettos (cabbage palm) and are native to SC. Their growing region extends as far north as southern-coastal NC down to Florida, Cuba and the Bahamas. Being that it requires a sub-tropical/humid environment to thrive, I'm not sure that NY would be an ideal environment.
LORRAINE G VALE, Allied ASID Lisa,
The pine straw will eventually be replaced by creeping or spreading (green) cover, which is definitely my preference.
Thank you for your question~
Lorraine
LORRAINE G VALE, Allied ASID Yes! I designed this yard to be low maintenance. That includes not running out there at night to cover plants when it gets to freezing temperatures. There have been some casualties, but they were replaced with native plantings, which always do best no matter where you live.
LORRAINE G VALE, Allied ASID Here you go~
Moderate to fast growth rate. Washingtonia robusta is a fast growing palm that can get up to 50 – 60 ft tall and 5-10ft wide, but usually is not taller than 40ft.
LORRAINE G VALE, Allied ASID Dear Black Hawk-Thank you for you question-Assuming you are referring to the pergola-it is made of pressure treated, kiln dried wood. We painted it an opaque stain. The color is Charleston Green from the Historic Charleston Paint Collection by Sherwin Williams. It was 3 years before it needed repainting.

I'm working on hardscape materials for our home. Pls share what the patio flooring is - I like the color too. Please tell me how I can create something similar in southern IN (We get snow/have 4 seasons!) Thank you. Nice space. »
