This modern functioning kitchen has loads of counterspace and open shelving for cooks to have immediate access to plates when preparing a meal of to have a party. Natural white quartz and varying heights and depths of base cabinetry create the look of furniture rather than kitchen cabinetry. The countertops are durable and create the look of an old world look. Backsplash tiles are calacutta marble and extend to the ceiling behind the floating open shelves.

The open shelving is great! Are the shelves 12 inches wide, or less? Thanks. »
Marlene Wangenheim AKBD, CAPS, Allied Member ASID yes you are absolutely correct. Cambria is more durable as are the other man mades. Its about the look. The man mades do not have the luster of natural stone. Silestone has come out with new examples that look like carrera marble for example and they are a fine substitute for those who do not wish to maintain stone.
what is the name and color of your countertops? also the edging name? - I'm getting ready to redo my kitchen and am looking at Yukon Blanco by Silestone. It looks solid white, but I actually wanted Extreme Zeus and was told it was discontinuted. Any ideas? »
Marlene Wangenheim AKBD, CAPS, Allied Member ASID hi thanks for the question. I don't know the exact color as they are painted green and then glazed with a taupe finish. The layering process adds dimension as well as aging. The base color is more like a sage green but I cannot put a BM color to them. These cabinets were customizied from a base color. mw
Marlene Wangenheim AKBD, CAPS, Allied Member ASID Hi stefanie, thank you for your question. The molding shownn here is a custom made soffit using 1 x 4 with a standard 4" crown molding on fop of it. A third piece of molding was added to the ceiling to create the look of the crown fanning both downward and onto the ceiling, I designed the molding so that the floating shelves would integrate with the top cabinetry. It is not something that has a sku# and can be purchased. It is simply the coordination of a creative and knowledgable designer and a fantastic installer. I wish you luck.
designlovely Thanks! I really liked the look of these calacutta tile more than some others I've seen and I was wondering if the difference was due to the vendors perhaps. I like the mostly white background with some veining as opposed to some tiles that seem to be yellow or brown background color. Because it's a natural stone, there will be a lot of variation. I went to a local tile shop and they sell calacutta marble tile from many vendor, but they recommended Artistic stone tiles over some of their other brands. I was told that with Artistic stone I could specify first choice calacutta with light veining or normal veining. I was wondering what vendor was used for these tiles and what specifications if any were used when purchasing them, so that I might buy/get something similar. I've gone to Ann Sacks and they say that you cannot specify anything regarding the stone and they recommend buying extra in order to switch out the tiles that you do not like and also that you ask the tile setter to do a dry-set of the tile before grouting to ensure the look is right before grouting the tile. I can look into some of these other brands you've suggested. Do you know if there would be a difference in quality between these brands that you suggested?
Marlene Wangenheim AKBD, CAPS, Allied Member ASID The cabinetry was custom manufactured by a local millwork industry partner. I use this resource when designing kitchens for some of my clients. The design and materials selection was done by my firm and manufactured to spec.
5. Edge molding. Moldings can be added to almost every part of a cabinet or shelf. This homeowner or designer added molding to the outside edge of the shelving, known as an edge molding. Decorative molding on open shelving not only adds a new design feature, but it can also add a structural element. Some shelving, depending on the span (anything over 36 inches) can bow from weight if it isn't supported correctly. Applying an edge molding to the outside edge of the shelf can prevent sagging.
i think this is a better use of the corner...maybe with curved shelves, and I like the shelf holder detail, and I like that it can go lower toward the counter...that corner is a bit useless otherwise
soft green color on cabinets is really beautiful and unique, still giving the fresh look of white on the countertops and backsplash...a great alternative to all white.
